Online course for Canadian choirs

Increase your digital capacity, capabilities and confidence

This 4 module online course is designed for Canadian choirs and singing groups looking to increase their confidence using digital tools and techniques to help reach their goals. Built upon current best practices, it is delivered by digital marketing expert, Annelise Larson. This course helps you learn strategies on how to improve your choir or singing group's online engagement and discoverability using social media, websites, streaming, and email marketing. You will learn how to harness opportunities to strengthen and grow your choir’s relationships with potential new singers, audiences, donors and other supporters using tools like social media, streaming and email marketing. You will also develop a better understanding of how online data can focus your strategy on the results you need.

This course includes applied exercises as well as practical case studies and downloads to help you to immediately adapt what you learn to your specific choir. You can progress through the course material on your own time, and may want to allocate 2-3 hours a week to review the course videos and slides, and to complete practical assignments and handouts.

  • Is this course available in French? Ce cours est-il offert en français?

Oui. Pour la version française de cette page veuillez cliquer ici

Course slides and downloadable materials have been professionally translated, and the live instruction French subtitles will be automatically translated in real time by an autotranslate tool called Wordly (https://wordly.ai/). This will be a test to see how well Wordly works - if successful, it will allow us to provide simultaneous translation more often. We’ll be looking for opportunities to improve how well it functions and to test the French to English translation as well. Nevertheless, we expect, as with any new tool, there will be a learning curve for us, as well as for Wordly and we’ll be asking for your feedback regularly throughout the course.

  • I don’t live in Canada. Can I register?

The course is tailored for choirs and singing groups in Canada, but international participants are welcome.

  • I am a member of Choral Canada. Where do I find the $5 member discount coupon?

All members were emailed the code from Choral Canada (hint: it's the same password you use to access the members only area of the website). Search your email for a message from [email protected] for a recent reminder. If you are not yet a member of Choral Canada, you can purchase a membership here

  • Is this different than the Live sessions available in April?

The instructor lectures for each of the four modules were recorded and are available in this On Demand course. You are able to watch and rewatch the recordings on your own time, and as often as you need to.

However, these recordings do not include certain interactive elements that were only possible during the Live course.

  • Will this course be offered again?

This course will only be available until July 31, 2021. We do not have plans to repeat the live course at this time. Please subscribe below to receive information and updates from Choral Canada.
